Your contribution helps Read to Them deliver vital literacy programs, including helping us provide free books to children in Central Virginia.

When there are books in a home, it encourages caretakers to get involved, too. Reading aloud together creates irreplaceable adult-child interactions, stoking an excitement about learning and stories that will last a lifetime.
Give the gift of
childhood literacy.

Your donations make a difference.
We appreciate any and all of the support from our
community to help extend literacy to every child
in Central Virginia. However if you would like to
become a monthly donor, your gift of $19 will cover
the cost of books and postage to provide a child
with a free book EVERY MONTH for ONE YEAR.

For being an Imagination Library monthly donor,
we’d like to express our gratitude by sending you
a t-shirt. The front features the Imagination Library
logo along with “I’m a Proud Supporter of the
Library that Dolly built.” The back features one of
Dolly’s famous sayings, “You can never get enough
books in the hands of enough children.”

Donations are processed by Read to Them, the local affiliate who brings Imagination Library 804 to young readers in Central Virginia.

We are proud to serve children and families in the cities of Richmond, Petersburg, and Colonial Heights, and the counties of Amelia, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Sussex, and South Chesterfield. If you would like to designate your donation to an individual locality, please specify that in the NOTE section of the donation form.

Did you know?
For donors, there are significant tax benefits, even if you don’t itemize, when you donate directly to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. You may be able to donate appreciated stock and not pay tax on the gain, or you may be able to give from your retirement accounts, such as an IRA, 401(k), etc., and not pay tax on the distribution, provided it is given directly to the charity. The rules are specific, so please ask your financial advisor to help you do this.
Check if your employer offers a
gift-matching program.
Many corporations have gift-matching programs where the company will match its employees' donations to a nonprofit. If you do choose to donate cash, you can often make your donation worth so much more if you work for an employer that will match all or a portion of your contribution.
